About smoking...
Although she realizes she is missing friendships with some fine people, she does not go out of her way to make friends with smokers. This is because if they've been in her house, it smells like smoke afterwards, and if she's been in theirs, she smells like smoke.
She lets the pets stay outside
She had dogs and cats as a child, and loves animals, but her mother was strict about hand-washing and keeping the pets outside. She inherited these habits. She would be most uncomfortable if a pet entered her living abode. She has tried to be sure this does not cause any strain in relationships with indoor-pet owners.
Her nephew, James, has been in trouble in school
In the boys' room, at school, James has observed the other boys don't wash their hands after peeing. James won't play with those kids. The principal has had a talk with James. She wonders what he said? She is on James' side. GO JAMES!
She's the only person I know who washes her garbage before throwing it out!
Well, the styrofoam meat tray and the empty soup cans go into soapy water and are scrubbed before they fly into the trash can (or recycling can). Yet another wonderful habit from her mother, who grew up in the bug-friendly climate of Houston.
She gives points to people who require "shoes off " before coming in their house!
She admires these people! Someday, if she ever owns a house...part of it, at least, will require NO SHOES.
She often says:
"WHY CANT WE ARREST PEOPLE WHO THROW TRASH ON THE GROUND??? Every time I say it people just laugh! I AM NOT KIDDING."
