SILENCE IS A BEAUTIFUL THING. Anyone who can't stand silence is missing something...(brain cells?) This is where I get to sound off on my big issue: noise

Cities Are Loud. Why Don't You Move?

EXACTLY THE OPPOSITE SHOULD BE SAID!

The closer you pack people together, the more you have to restrict freedoms...this is natural and understandable...IF YOU WANT TOTAL FREEDOM TO MAKE ALL THE NOISE YOU WANT YOU SHOULD MOVE TO THE COUNTRY WHERE NO NEIGHBOR WILL BE CLOSE ENOUGH TO BE BOTHERED BY YOU!!

Isn't this obvious? I am so tired of hearing "why don't you move?"

LETTER TO THE EDITOR. (CLEANED UP )

Here's my theory: Boom cars, and drilled mufflers are the "mating call of the low class gutter snipe". They are defining their power field. These are not young men "just listening to their music". We are talking about the equivalent of walking along the street, shoving each person you meet and saying: "this is my territory, I claim it, and I can shove you out of it" They are doing this with sound assault. Their purpose is intimidation. This is not light or minor. These men know they are doing wrong. When they get questioned (which isn't often) they use the same tactics that worked when they were 5. Defensive rationalizing excuses and distraction:"Shouldn't you go after real criminals instead of bothering me?".

They should receive fines and even confiscation of the radio or vehicle. And yet most of them look as if they have never so much as had a finger shaken at them. Ordinary citizens are afraid of them (they recognize these goons are not just listening to music). Police are not much interested in addressing the problem. Citizens who want to find a way to spare themselves this frequent *brain piercing* noise, must get into action with others who also want relief. A hundred people complaining in a united front can get action.  Of course, if you have clout, you can get the street where you live taken care of pretty easily.

Quiet cities are do-able, and making noise is NOT a right.

I WISH I KNEW WHAT PERCENT OF THE POPULATION IS IN AGREEMENT WITH ME?
